OMR(One Minute Read): Setting A Benchmark

Success until one fails is more of an automatic process where we unconsciously do what we need to do to achieve what we want to achieve. Success in terms of college grades, relationships, personal goals and every other thing. However, after failure, our system usually goes in override and we are not able to jump back to the success which we had achieved in past but which we are capable of. We loose our touch.

Success until one fails is more of an automatic process where we unconsciously do what we need to do to achieve what we want to achieve.

Success is not just about repeating the actions and rituals that lead to obtaining a favorable result but to do so with a conscious awareness of what we did in order to achieve that success. We must be able to articulate those steps. Success should not be a habit. Success should rather be deliberate step.

Success is not just about repeating the actions and rituals that lead to obtaining a favorable result but to do so with a conscious awareness of what we did in order to achieve that success.

One of the key step in achieving success is setting benchmark. Success can only be achieved by first deciding the target and then using any and every way possible to get there. Usually, after tasting a "disastrous failure" one fails to set target. Instead, we act like the crowd. Cut corners. Take a easy way out by succumbing to peer pressure. That's how a guy who was resolute as a child that he won't smoke or drink falls pray to the same things he was never gonna try. Failure shakes our system and our beliefs.
Success can only be achieved by first deciding the target and then using any and every way possible to get there.

So if you are trying to score better than you are currently scoring, or if you want to play those dribbles or passes better than you are now doing or want to lose weight. Don't just wish. Articulate your wishes by setting an outrageous benchmark. Maybe a benchmark of 3.5 GPA/9.0 CGPA or being able to play those dribbles as Messi or LeBron does or deciding that you'll get down to a BMI of 23. Whatever that benchmark is, SET IT! And once it is set, don't give yourself options. Let it be one way road, only forward. You've gotta do it this way or that way! But you gotta do it.

So, set benchmarks and then...

JUST DO IT!
