Poem: The Lost Race

Inspiration:

I remember writing this poem when I lost, actually stood runners up, in a state level quiz competition. I was around 14 years old at that time. Since then, this poem has been more of a prayer to me, after every defeat I have come to read this poem, and the poem has never failed to help me readjust my attitude and re-calibrate all my daily targets according to my dreams. Of course, as I have always been saying all the time, that I never write any poems, my hands are just held loose enough for him to write through me. So I have always considered this poem to be a gift unto me by the Divine. I thank him always for this poem. There are no fancy rhymes in this poem, is a bit amateurish and is just a plain message of inspiration. I have faith you will also be inspired by the poem.

This breezy night asks my soul,
“Why couldn't you win this race?”
My spirit says, “It was a bad luck”

The bitter night says,
“It wasn't luck,
It was you who lost the race.
Failure has no reasons,
But it is a simple truth,
Which you blame to your fortune.
This world sees what you are,
But never tells you,
What you should do.”

Hearing this, my spirit says,
“Ruined of my thoughts, I was ever so,
I would never win this race.
I Quit! I Give Up!
I would never run this race.”

“It seems the teacher of many,
Says to self, you are worst.
This path of losses will bring you success,
If you walk on thorn,
Not on pebble of rose touch.”

“The race has ups and downs,
The bigger thorn strikes you,
The more resistive you should become.
But success follows only when,
You dodge these thorns.
Mistakes always happen,
But are never to be repeated.”

“Cry out aloud today,
Probably it may clean your eyes for future.
Race, race, race
Never Quit be the motto.
Rise each time you fall,
Rise to a better place,
Than you have ever been to.
Nobody would ever say and
Think you lost your race”

I love to write under pseudonym WillG as I believe whatever I write, it actually is written through me. My writing is my impression of the expressions the world has in my life. I know you'll like it. Apart from that I love coding, violin and am an engineer.
